Raw shea butter from Chad

Vitellaria paradoxa C.F.Gaertn. (formerly Butyrospermum parkii) is a slow-growing tree of the African savannah — it takes 15 to 20 years before it bears its first fruit. Its range covers the African Sahel zone, including Chad. The official INCI name of its butter is Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, listed in the European Commission’s CosIng database.

Raw butter is obtained by harvesting ripe fruit, drying, crushing the kernels and extracting by cold pressing or traditional churning. Unrefined, it keeps its natural colour (off-white to pale yellow), its characteristic slightly smoky odour and the full range of its active compounds. Its fatty-acid profile is dominated by oleic acid (40–60%) and stearic acid (20–50%), supplemented by phytosterols, tocopherols and triterpenes in the unsaponifiable fraction (5–17%) — exceptionally high compared with other vegetable oils (usually < 2%).

TchadAgriSourcing offers Grade A raw shea butter, inspected on site before shipping. Packed in 25 kg bags or big bags. COA and technical data sheet provided with every batch.
